Your data and deletion
This guide explains, case by case, where your CigCount data is and how to see it, take it with you or delete it. The legal details are in the Privacy policy.
Your log in the app
Your profile, your plan and your smoking history are only on your phone. MikeTech has no copy and can’t see them.
- To see it: it’s in the app, in Home and Progress (on the free plan, history shows the last 30 days).
- To take it with you: with Premium, in Settings → Data and privacy → “Export data”, as JSON or CSV.
- To delete it: in Settings → Data and privacy → “Delete my data”. Your profile, plan and history are deleted from this phone, and it can’t be undone. Uninstalling the app also deletes them.
Keep in mind that:
- “Delete my data” doesn’t cancel your subscription. To cancel it, see the Premium section below.
- If you have iCloud or Google backup turned on, backups that already exist keep your data until your next backup replaces them. You manage those backups in your Apple or Google account.
Error reports
If “Send error reports” is on, the app sends technical reports with a diagnostic ID. They’re designed not to include your name or your smoking log.
- To turn them off: in Settings → Data and privacy → “Send error reports”. When you turn it off, the diagnostic ID is deleted and nothing else is sent.
- To ask for a copy or for deletion: copy your diagnostic ID, which is in that same section, and send it to support@cigcount.com saying what you need.
- If you don’t have the ID: if you already used “Delete my data”, turned off the switch or switched phones, the previous ID no longer exists and we can’t find those reports. You don’t need to do anything: reports with the ID are deleted automatically after 90 days.
- What remains after a deletion: we keep a record of it (a code derived from the ID, how many reports were deleted and the date) for as long as the service exists, so we can show that we did it. Summaries of errors, without an ID, that other phones share and the monthly counts aren’t deleted, because they carry no identifiers. Deleted reports can remain in backups for up to 30 days.
Premium
Payments are handled by Apple or Google, and subscriptions go through RevenueCat with a random identifier.
- To cancel: in your Apple Account settings or in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions. You can also start from Settings → Premium → “Manage subscription”.
- To delete your purchase history at RevenueCat: write to support@cigcount.com with the order number from your Apple or Google receipt, so we can find it, and we’ll delete it. The store keeps its own record of the purchase, under its policies. If you never bought anything, RevenueCat only has the random identifier the service itself creates and technical data, with no purchases; since we can’t link it to you, we can’t look it up to delete it.
The launch notice
- To unsubscribe: open the unsubscribe link in any email and tap “Unsubscribe and delete my email”. Your email is deleted right away and we won’t write to you again. Your email app may also offer a one-click unsubscribe button that does the same.
- Unconfirmed: if you didn’t confirm your email, we delete it after 7 days.
- Without news: if you didn’t ask for news, we delete your email when we send you the launch email or, at the latest, 12 months after you confirmed it.
- By email: you can also unsubscribe or ask for a copy of your data by writing to support@cigcount.com from the email you signed up with.
After a deletion, your email can remain for up to 7 days in the database’s technical history, until it’s replaced. Also, Resend, which sends the emails, keeps a copy of the ones we already sent you for 30 days, and its backups last up to 7 days longer. If an email bounces or is marked as spam, Resend also keeps that address on its suppression list so it doesn’t write to it again; we remove it from that list if you ask us to.
How to ask for access, correction or deletion
Write to support@cigcount.com and tell us what you need. To find your data, include:
- your diagnostic ID, if it’s about error reports;
- the store order number, if it’s about your purchases;
- or write from the email you signed up with, if it’s about the notice.
We reply within 30 days at most, free of charge. From December 1, 2026, if you live in Chile and ask us to temporarily block your data while we resolve a request to correct, delete or object, we reply within 2 business days and don’t use your data in the meantime (we only keep it). We may ask for information to verify that the request is yours.
If something doesn’t feel right
Write to us first: we want to fix it. You can also complain to the data protection authority in your country. In Chile, from December 1, 2026, that is the Agencia de Protección de Datos Personales.
